Definition of happiness- 1.delighted, pleased or glad as over a particular thing: to be happy to see a person 2. characterized by or indicative of pleasure, contentment, or joy.
I don't know many people who don't want to be happy, do you? Even though we are all on our own pursuit of happiness and figuring out what makes us happy, we can probably all agree, that happy just feels good. Assuming you are already happy, what if I shared two ways for you to get "happier" this year.Would you be happy?
If you are not currently happy, just keep on looking at the first image. After a few seconds see if you are happy, if not, keep looking at the image until you are. The first way- A Gratitude List
Starting the minute you finish reading this and every day there after, take out a sheet of paper and write out a Gratitude list. Look around you, look at what you have, look at the people in your life.
Each day write out at least 3 things that you are grateful for. Studies have shown people who express gratitude on a daily basis are generally happier people.
The second tip- Tell someone that you like them or love them.
Did you know that creating happiness for others doesn't have to cost money or have to involve material items. Sometimes just hearing " I like You" or " I love you" creates happiness for both the receiver as well as the messenger, particularly when it is unexpected.
Two ways that I hope will make you a happier person today. Okay, so are you ready to be happier this year?
PS- I love you!
The chance to see my husbands family from Dallas yesterday.
Those of you who follow me know that I have not really gotten too personal in the year that I have been blogging. You know that I am blessed beyond measure to have 3 beautiful children, you know that I am married to a wonderful husband that I love dearly and that I live in the country in the middle of nowhere surrounded by natures beauty, my dogs, cats and donkeys. But today is different. I am setting aside the holiday decor and holiday projects for something far more inspirational. Today my faith is being tested as I let you into my heart, share my soul and hopefully as I share a letter with you, a lesson as well. My friend Laura of Finding Home created The Greatest Gift Project which gives me another platform to be able to share my heart with you today. You can follow along here to see my letter.
I am taking the week off with my family to completely enjoy each other and to celebrate and appreciate all of the many blessings in my life. I will be back on Wednesday to announce the winner of my Burlap Wreath giveaway that I am hosting here.
Until then, I wanted to share some images from a beautiful lighthouse that we passed while on my girls trip this past weekend .
You know how you always hear people say they wish life would slow down for a moment,
well for me I wish I would slow down for a moment....
long enough to sit on my swing and enjoy the simple pleasures in my life, and the gifts that I have been blessed with. You know the one's that don't have to be hot-glued, spray painted or sewn with a drop cloth.
One's that look more like throwing rocks in the lake with my kids or fishing on the dock with my husband.
Who knows, I might even take the paddle boat out for a spin and only if I promise myself I won't decorate it while I am paddling away! What simple pleasures will you be enjoying this long weekend?
My family was fortunate to get away to Tennessee over President's Day weekend. We have always made the Great Smokey Mountain National Park a yearly event and a nature hike part of the tradition. My kids just love everything outdoors so the trip is always perfect.
It was during this walk that I began to be inspired not by the clear, beautiful rapids of the water
or the gorgeous old hardwood trees that have grown into their own unique shapes over the past hundred years
or looking down from 6,600 feet at the most visitednational park in the United States.
My inspiration this day was found here
Don't get me wrong this is absolutely beautiful
but on this particular day it was just
It was everywhere and it was so beautifully green when everything else was'nt.
So, I am working on a few projects using my inspiring nature walk and moss. As soon as I get my head out of the clouds, I will show you what I come up with.
I had ever intention today of showing you a cute idea that I usually put together for my husband- the man who has everything, for Valentines Day this year. A photo collage using some little props/letters to spell out endearing words and sayings.
It worked for Dad's birthday gift last year
It worked for my Christmas Card
and so, I thought I would try it for Valentines Day.
A sweet little picture, in a sweet little frame.
So, here's my first attempt at capturing the right shot
my second attempt
Then I realized, you know what my husband will love more then the sweet little picture in the sweet little frame? He will love that I was thinking about him. He will love the amount of time I spent thinking about what to get him. He will love the fact that the kids really had a good time "making" daddy a gift. He will love that the kids probably frustrated mommy because she couldn't get the "right" shot.
But, I think what he will love even more then anything is knowing how much we love him and adore him.
Ya know, the more I think about it, that just makes next year's gift a whole lot easier!
